Scarab and magic spells

The scarab was associated since the beginnings of the Old Kingdom with the god "Atum" and then with the god "Ra", as it was associated with the religious belief of the ancient Egyptian and its use spread in many things related to the ancient Egyptian throughout ancient times, but the idea that the scarab is an amulet that protects its owner from evil has dominated the Egyptian the old.

It was also used for decoration and on the chests of the dead after embalming them for blessing.

The Egyptians began to use it as a seal since the end of the Old Kingdom, and engraved on the inside of it signs engraved to seal a piece of clay and fasten it at the ends of a thick thread to which they tie a pot cover or a message of papyrus, in the modern state used to record official events such as the royal wedding as did "Amenhotep III""

In addition to this, the scarab was used to record a text from the Book of the Dead, where it was written on it (so that the heart would not testify against its owner, and so that he would not make his name stained before the court judges and so that he would not lie before the greatest god, Lord of the dead) and this is known as the scarab of the heart.

The scientist "Walls Badge" mentioned that amulets and talismans each had a purpose and they are about eleven incantations, the most important of which is the heart incantation, which is basically some stage of the ancient Egyptian belief as mentioned earlier, and then comes the scarab incantation.

. The talisman of the heart, which is placed in the place of the heart in the body of the deceased after embalming it, is in the shape of a heart written on it.

(Let my heart be in the house of hearts, let my chest be with me in the house of hearts, let my heart be with me and remain with me. Otherwise, I will not eat Özer bread on the eastern side of Lake Flowers, but I do ride the boat that carries me in the great river back or forth, let my mouth be with me, and let me talk about it And to give me my legs so that I could walk with my hands to defeat my enemies, to open the gates of heaven for me, and to “insult” the Prince of Gods to open my mouth with cheers and to open my eyes, to open my bowed legs, to “Anbu” to strengthen my thighs to help me rise and "Sakhmet" to fly to the sky and whatever I command With him in the temple of "Ka-Ptah", that I will realize with my heart and I will be able to control it and on my hands and legs and I will do everything that I have commanded by myself, that my soul will not be bound by my body before the gate to the afterlife, but I will immortalize in peace)

The Egyptians believe that the scarab has great power to protect the heart and give a new life to the deceased. It is a symbol of the gods "expert" and embodies the invisible power of creation that directs the sun in space, and there are some rituals mentioned in a magic papyrus about the rituals of the scarab and the Eza ring says

(You take a scarab and put it on a clean table of paper and put a piece of clean linen under it, and under it a piece of olive wood and on the table you put a censer with myrrh and kefir and heat a cup of light green or yellow stone in which you put an ointment from the lilies, myrrh, or the darcini, and take the Horus ring and put it in the ointment. To make it pure, put it on the censer with kefi and myrrh and leave the ring for three days, then keep the ring in a good place)

Also, amulets and hijabs were used as means of magic, perhaps as a material element in the activity of magic or as a way to preserve effective magical powers to protect a person in his earthly or eternal life. And the quiet life, amulets had the first place, as they were placed above the doors of homes, on their doorsteps, inside rooms, under sleeping pillows, or in places where they would practice their life work, and also for decoration in the form of a necklace or decorative objects.

Amulets are symbolic signs, each with a special expression and a specific role. It represents a hieroglyphic symbol indicating a moral characteristic of life, happiness, wisdom, and beauty.

Another example of amulets is the (Athal) plant, which was first discovered as a necklace in the neck of a child, and it is a bright green plant all the time symbolizing good fortune associated with its appearance in the flood, so it symbolized life and love, and we used to find many of it inside the tombs as a symbol of the return of life to the deceased.

The magic veil was another type of magic means, as it was made of two small panels of wood, tissue, or the skins of animals and insects, and inside them were placed formulas for special spells, or papyrus papers were kept between them and represented a group of symbols and magic incantations where they were written in black ink to symbolize goodness or ink Red is a symbol of evil.

Among the examples of the ancient Egyptian's firm belief in the role of magic as an aid to him in the journey of the other world are the Oshite statues called the servants of the afterlife, which carry symbols, incantations and magic spells placed next to the dead, which numbered 365 in the number of days of the year, so they believed that life would spring forth due to the powers of magic. At the request of the deceased for help in his journey to the afterlife.
